A Clean Roof Protects Your Home
Roof Shark and Exterior Cleaning is a professional cleaning team, and our mission is to make sure your home or business is a safe and hazard-free property. That’s why roof cleaning is a project so important to us. A clean roof looks better from the street, but it also protects everything underneath it.
Roof Maintenance Matters
So why does a clean roof also equal a safer, sturdier roof? After all, no one is walking around on it (we hope). Leaves, dirt, debris, and even material from nests and other animal signs can hide a deteriorating roof or missing tile. Without the right repairs, the damage will spread and penetrate the attic. Wet debris can also stimulate the growth of mold and mildew, a huge threat that quickly destroys the watertight seal on your roof.
Neglecting to maintain your roof with regular cleaning can void your homeowner’s or business warranty covering the roof. If a problem does occur, the insurance company can claim that improper care was a factor in the damage, which isn’t something the insurer is responsible for paying.
Of course, if your roof does need a good cleaning, it’s also safer when a professional does it instead of you as the homeowner. Our team is licensed, insured, and trained to navigate slippery tiles and steep pitches to stay safe and more protected than anyone without the same years of experience.
Pressure Washing vs. Soft Cleaning
There’s more than one way to clean a roof or wash a building, and at Roof Shark and Exterior Cleaning, we want you to understand the differences that can impact the long life of your roof material. Different techniques target different problems or may be appropriate depending on the type of debris and roof construction material. An inexperienced team might turn to pressure washing as a one-size-fits-all solution, but our cleaning crews can judge the right way to handle your property with care.
What Is Pressure Washing?
Most of our customers are familiar with pressure washing techniques because it’s a common tool for cleaning everything from sidewalks to boats. When it comes to your roof, however, pressure washing isn’t always the best option, because roof tiles can be damaged when crews walk on the roof or blast it with water. Talk to our team about the age of your roof and materials used and we’ll help you understand if pressure washing is a safe technique.
What Is Soft Cleaning?
Soft cleaning doesn’t involve the same high-pressure blasts, because a special nozzle attachment on the end of the pressure washer reduces the power of the water to about the strength of a garden hose. To clean the surface, soft washing relies on a biodegradable, environmentally friendly cleaning chemical that kills algae, mold, moss, and other natural elements that are a part of living in our humid tropical climate. This process won’t dislodge roof shingles or tiles.
